A new NHS dental practice has opened in Stoke.

The new surgery opened on Thursday and 300 patients have already registered; on Friday, more than a dozen patients were treated by principal dentist, Jabbar Hussain and his team of dental nurses.

The Liverpool Road Dental Practice will provide an additional 7,000 dental places in the area; the practice will eventually employ four dentists but Mr Hussain is currently the only dentist working at the surgery. Recruitment for the second dentist is currently underway.

Mr Hussain said that the opening had gone very well and staff were pleased with the response from the public. Eventually, four surgeries will be used but in the first year, it is expected that only three will open to the public. The practice was commissioned by Stoke on Trent Primary Care Trust and will be run by Primecare Oral Health Services.

Mr Hussain said that there was a demand for dental services in the area and encouraged people to either visit or telephone the practice to register. The surgery will open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm. The practice is kitted out with all the latest equipment and technology and staff are looking forward to welcoming new patients.
