A brand new, multi-million pound health centre has opened in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

The £4.5 million centre boasts an array of services, including a dental centre, a GP surgery and blood testing. The new building is located on Scotia Road in Tunstall and Staffordshire Primary Care Trusts are anticipating the centre will treat around 70,000 patients per year.

Work started on the state of the art facility in November last year and the centre opened its doors to patients in September, however, it was not officially opened until this week.

Head of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Mohammed Pervez, said that the centre would make a huge difference to local people and was an excellent addition to the local area. Now, people will be able to access a whole range of health services under one roof, which will be more convenient.

Graham Urwin, head of Staffordshire Primary Care Trusts, said that the official opening ceremony was a chance for members of the public and staff to celebrate.
