A new medical and dental centre has opened in Andover.

Alex Whitfield, chief executive at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), cut the ribbon, officially opening the multi-million pound centre, which houses Andover Medical Practice and Solent Dental Service. The opening was attended by GPs, dentists, nurses and other members of the staff teams, as well as patients and residents and those who worked on the development.

Work on the new development, which is located on the site of Andover War Memorial Hospital, was completed in November 2022 and patients have been using the centre since January 2023. The official opening was an opportunity for everyone involved to come together and celebrate the success of the project, according to Ms Whitfield.

The project will have a significant impact on patients and staff. The medical centre is much larger and more modern than the previous building and it offers a wider range of services. Practice manager, Amanda Goddard, expressed her excitement at welcoming patients to the new facility and said that staff had been really impressed.

Solent Dental Service is an NHS special care dentistry service. Relocating the service will enable patients to benefit from state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and enjoy a more modern and comfortable setting.

Local MP, Kit Malthouse, attended the opening, which he described as a ‘real milestone.’ After taking the tour, he praised the work of everyone involved and commented on the positive impact the centre would have on thousands of local people.

The project was overseen by HHFT and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board.
