New Dental Surgery to Open in Run-Down Pub

A new dental surgery is due to open in Deane near Bolton, after work started to convert a run-down pub into a state of the art practice.

The Rumworth Arms in Wigan Road closed in May and has been empty ever since. However, Bolton Council has approved plans to turn the premises into a dental surgery and renovation work is now underway.

Ravat and Ray Dental will move a quarter of a mile from their current location in Deane Clinic to the Rumworth Arms. The existing practice has four surgeries and four dentists and a new dentist will join the team once the move has taken place.

Both partners live in Bolton and the move will make it easier for them to run their business, which includes nine practices in the area, more effectively and efficiently. The partners will use the additional space upstairs in the pub to run the administration side of the business and the practice will become a hub for their company.

Counsellor Andy Morgan said that the news was very positive, as an empty building is no use to residents and a dental practice will be a very valuable addition to the local community. The area is one of the most deprived in the district and Morgan believes that the surgery will make a real difference to local people.
