New dental surgery to open in Didcot

A new dental surgery is set to open in Didcot following approval from planning officers at South Oxfordshire District Council.

An application was submitted to the council in April by Corona Vulcan Didcot II Limited on behalf an unnamed dental business. The change of use application relates to a unit located in the Orchard Centre off Station Road. The unit has been vacant since 2018 and was previously used as a shop.

Planning officers at the council have now approved the application to change the use of the unit from retail to a dental surgery. Sharon Crawford, planning officer, said that the new surgery will contribute to the “vitality and viability of the town centre” and be useful for the local community.

There is currently a shortage of dental places across the UK and many patients are finding it hard to get appointments. There is no further information about the new practice, but details will be released in due course. Local patients will be able to learn more about opening hours, services and fees in the coming weeks.
