A new dental surgery has opened in Llanfyllin, Powys.

Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) confirmed that the practice has opened at the Dental Centre in Llansantffraid. A spokesperson for PTHB said that he was pleased to pass on the news that a new surgery has opened to serve patients in Llanfyllin. The new centre offers “greatly improved facilities” and “high-quality dental services for people in the north of Powys.”

The practice is located at The Dental Centre and the telephone number is 01691 649111. Outside of normal working hours, patients can contact 111 for out-of-hours emergency care.

News of the new practice will provide relief for local patients, with many reporting problems accessing services during the pandemic. There is currently a shortage of dentists across Wales and other parts of the UK and the pandemic has caused widespread disruption.

With a new surgery opening, more patients will be able to access local NHS services without having to choose between travelling long distances and paying for private care.

Patients have been advised that dental teams may be prioritising urgent cases. There may therefore be a wait for routine services, such as check-ups.
