A new dental practice is to be formally opened for business as of Monday, it has been revealed.

Snaith Dental Care opened in September but will be officially opened by Karen Knapton, chairman of NHS East Riding and local MP Andrew Percy.

The practice is part of a 2.8 million pound investment in NHS dental services in the region. During the last 2 years, money has been pumped into the area to try and better access to NHS dental practitioners and new practices have also opened in Market Weighton and Witthernsea. Funding has also been given to seventeen existing practices to increase the number of NHS places available.

Karen Knapton said that increasing the number of NHS dental places was a priority. Since April last year, an additional 36,000 places have been made available and there are plans to build on this in the coming years.

The new Snaith practice has already proved extremely popular with local people and dental partners Tony O’Brien and Chris Siddle said they had received a great deal of interest despite the fact that they hadn’t advertised. The new practice will cater for 5,000 patients and the surgery is kitted out with the latest equipment. The practice is taking on new patients and those interested in registering are advised to contact the surgery directly.
