Sample News Big

Three brand new NHS dental clinics are set to open in and around Southampton, creating thousands of extra NHS dental places.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Care has confirmed that two new practices will be opened in Southampton and one new surgery will open in Fareham, creating up to 17,000 new NHS dental places. In addition to creating new places, the practices will also offer patients late night, evening and bank holiday appointments.

The first practices to open will be  Sharland House Walk-in Dental Centre in Fareham in early April and Weston Lane Dental Surgery. Shirley Dental Walk-in Centre will open a week later on the 9th April.

The walk-in dental centres are designed to provide patients with access to flexible appointment times, which Hampshire and Isle of Wight Care believes is an issue in the area at the moment. The centres will be open 7 days a week from 9am until 7pm and bank holiday appointments will also be available.

The Shirley practice will provide 7,000 NHS places, while Sharland House will offer 6,000 and Weston Lane will provide 4,000 places.

Jesse White, speaking on behalf of from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Dental Care, had this to say; “This is a very exciting time for us” and added that the focus of the new services will be on providing high quality care. Flexibility is another important issue for the private firm and the new centres will enable patients to access dental care around the clock and get the treatment they need without having to wait for a long time.

Patients who wish to register with one of the new practices are advised to visit hampshireandwightdentalcare.co.uk.
