New dental practice to open in former Edinburgh cycle store

A new dental practice is set to open in Edinburgh following the closure of a long-established cycle store.

The Edinburgh Cycle Store, which rebranded to become the Electric Cycle Company, closed in 2022. The owner of the business, Neill, confirmed the closure on Facebook, explaining that there had been a dispute with the landlord of the premises on Crew Road North. The business had relocated from Granton Road to Crew Road North with a vision to open a state-of-the-art bike showroom.

The premises on Crew Road North, which are located next to Scotmid, were deemed unsuitable by the Fire Service, meaning that Neill would have only been able to use half of the space available for storage. He threatened the landlord with legal action but was taken to court himself over unpaid rent.

The Granton Road site, which was home to the Edinburgh Cycle Store for many years, has now been vacant for two years but plans have been submitted to open a new dental practice in the building. If the plans get the green light, Trinity Dental Edinburgh will convert the retail unit into a modern clinic with three treatment rooms, toilet facilities, a reception and waiting area and a staff room.

Further details about practice services and patient registration will be made available once a planning decision has been made. The new practice is conveniently located for patients who live and work in central Edinburgh and the Trinity area of the city.
