A brand new, state of the art dental practice is soon to be opened in Clackmannanshire, Scotland.

The Macdonald and Morson Dental Care practice will open in Alloa, providing 12,000 NHS and private dental spaces; the surgery will be the largest of its kind in Scotland.

The practice will cost £1.8 million and there will be an estimated 20% upturn in patient numbers after the move to the 11,500 square foot facility. The practice is hoping to target patients who are currently on the waiting list by increasing the number of NHS places available at the surgery.

The new dental centre will be kitted out with the latest equipment and facilities, including a decontamination room, which will stand alone, apart from the surgery.

Currently, the dental team includes four dentists and three dental hygienists, but the practice is planning to recruit extra members of staff, including two new dentists and a new dental hygienist; the team will total 30 members at the end of the recruitment phase.

Senior partner Charles Macdonald, said that building a new facility has enabled the practice to expand considerably and increase the number of private and NHS dental places.

Dr Macdonald added that the new facility will enable better access to dental care, which will reduce waiting times.

The money for the project had been secured by means of a loan from Clydesdale Bank in addition to money from NHS Scotland and finance from Dr Charles Macdonald and Dr Gordon Morson.
