A new dental practice has opened in Paignton, creating 6,000 new NHS dental places.

Smile Dental Care has opened a new office on Marldon Road; the chain already has a small number of practices in the UK.

The opening of the surgery will create around 6,000 new NHS places in the town over the course of the next two years and it is hoped that the practice will enable all local people to access NHS dental care.

Andrew Harris, responsible for NHS dental services in the Torbay area, said that the opening was excellent news for people living in Paignton, especially those who are looking to join a dental practice close to their home. He added that the opening of the surgery is a demonstration of the commitment of the NHS trust to improve access to dental services in the region.

Mr Harris said that he hoped that the new places would enable Paignton residents to make use of NHS services in their doorstep and help to patch up any gaps in services.
