New Dental Facility Set to Reduce Waiting Times in Edinburgh

A new dental facility is set to reduce waiting times for dental treatment in Exeter. The Exeter Dental Education Facility is now open to the public, with the official opening by Sara Hurley, England’s chief dental officer, scheduled for the 24th of November.

The opening of the new facility brings good news to Exeter residents who are currently waiting to join an NHS register. It is hoped that the clinic, which has replaced one located in Heavitree Hospital, will help to tackle rising waiting times in the city. The previous clinic had 16 dental chairs and its replacement boasts 42.

This new facility is not just an excellent addition to the city for patients. It’s also set to make a difference for students. The centre enables dental students from Plymouth University to hone their practical skills under the watchful eyes of qualified dental professionals. The centre is managed by the Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise and will offer excellent surroundings for students to develop and get used to the world of work.

For now, patients can take advantage of services such as fillings, extractions, gum disease treatment and root canal therapy. It is hoped that the range of treatments will expand in the coming months.

The waiting list is currently full, but representatives have confirmed that new patients will be accepted in the near future. Director of Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise, Dr Robert Witton, explained that the new facility will iron out inequalities in access to dental care and hopefully reduce waiting times for treatment dramatically.
