New dental centre opens to help low income families

A new dental facility in Marshfield, Wisconsin, will be dedicated to the care of those from low income families, it has been announced.

The new Family Dental Center at Marshfield Clinic will provide much-needed care for those who are disadvantaged and struggling to afford dental care. The clinic recently received funding from both the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the USDA Rural Development programme.

The new facility was officially opened yesterday by the clinic’s president, Karl Ulrich, Congressman David Obey and Karen Timberlake, from the Wisconsin Department of Health.

The new centre will make a huge difference to people in the local area; many people struggle to afford dental care on top of their usual monthly outgoings, especially if they have a poorly paid job and children to look after. Often dental care is a luxury, which many people simply cannot afford; the new clinic will help to provide financial support for these people and ensure they get the treatment they need.
