A new dental clinic has opened in the Hickory Hill area of Southeast Memphis.

The Hickory Hill Dental Center opened on Monday and was funded by a 1.5 million dollar investment by Christ Community Health Services; the non-profit organisation was granted the money by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009.

The dental centre is located next to the Christ Community Hickory Hill Health Center; it is kitted out with the latest equipment and has been designed to provide patients with a relaxing and clean environment. The clinic boasts six adult treatment rooms and four paediatric rooms; twelve members of staff have been employed to work at the centre.

Some of the money will also be used to fund another dental clinic in the Broad Avenue area; it is estimated that around $850,000 will be spent on the facility and work is set to start in August.

Christ Community Health Services was funded in 1995 and has been working to provide healthcare for underprivileged people in the Memphis area ever since. The organisation works tirelessly to improve access to reduced rate services and cater for the emotional and medical needs of the local population.
