Mydentist has confirmed that its Chard practice will close at the end of March.

The practice, which is located on Fore Street, will shut on March 31st. A spokesperson for the chain stated that it had been impossible to recruit new staff for the practice, which meant that there was no option but to close the surgery. The mixed practice provides NHS and private care.

Patients who have appointments scheduled before the end of March should attend the practice as usual. The reception team will be in touch with patients who have appointments booked for April and beyond. The practice will also contact all registered patients to explain the developments and offer advice.

News of the practice closure comes shortly after it was revealed that local GP practice, Springmead Surgery, will shut on February 24th. Patients will transfer automatically to Ariel Healthcare in Fore Street.

Marcus Fysh, the MP for Yeovil, said that he had been lobbying for better access to NHS dental services for some time and pledged to keep communicating with the government on behalf of constituents. He added that many residents will be concerned about the news of the Chard mydentist practice closing, especially as there are plans for new housing developments in the area. He has urged local councils to be mindful of existing pressures on local services when considering planning applications.
