UK dental provider, mydentist, has confirmed plans to merge two practices in Blackburn.

As part of a £1.2 million development project, the practices in Preston New Road and Langham Road will close and relocate to a new site in Railway Road. Work at the new dental centre in Railway Road has been underway for some time and plans for the new facility are shaping up.

By closing the two existing practices and moving to a larger site, mydentist is expanding the range of services, increasing capacity, creating new jobs and improving access. The new practice will also offer extended opening hours, including evening and Saturday surgeries.

The Railway Road practice will house sixteen surgeries and treatment rooms will be kitted out with the latest equipment. Step-free access is available and there are also ground floor surgeries and bathroom facilities.

Mydentist is diversifying in terms of the services available in Blackburn. Patients will be able to access general dentistry, in addition to orthodontics for children and adults, cosmetic dentistry and dental implants.

All existing members of staff at the two Blackburn practices will move to the new location and mydentist has also confirmed that twelve new roles are available, including dentists, dental nurses, receptionists, an assistant practice manager and a treatment coordinator.

Mydentist area development manager, Heidi Helsdon, said that the Railway Road site has undergone a “major transformation” and thanked residents and staff for their patience. The new practice will be one of the largest mydentist centres in the country and is designed to cater to patient needs both now and in the future.

The existing practices will close on March 7th and patient appointments will be transferred to the Railway Road practice.
