Mole Valley Councillor Stands by Decision that Disrupted Parking for Dental Patients

Sample News Big

The chief executive of Mole Valley Council has apologised to patients and staff at a dental surgery and GP practice following parking changes, but insists that he made the right decision.

The response from Darren Mepham came following an email from Gerald Harvard, a Leatherhead resident. Mr Harvard complained about changes to parking facilities, which made it extremely difficult for patients to park when they visited the surgeries. The changes also affected the Royal British Legion and the Leatherhead and District Social Club.

Mr Mepham said that he was sorry for the lack of notice, but maintained that the right decision was made at the time. However, Mr Harvard said that he was not impressed by the response given by the councillor and felt that the council had let the people of Leatherhead down.

Residents were angered when the council changed the use of the car park at short notice, making it difficult for staff and patients to park. Staff were angered even more when they noticed that the offices that the parking spaces had been allocated to were free most of the time.
