Mission of Mercy Dental Event Organisers Anticipating Large Crowds in Missouri

The organisers of a free dental event are anticipating large crowds in Missouri this weekend.

The Mission of Mercy is hosting a free 2 day dental event on Friday 31st July and Saturday 1st August in conjunction with the Missouri Dental Association (MDA). The event will take place at the Fieldhouse at the Hearnes Center.

The doors open for registration at 5am, but organisers are expecting crowds to gather well in advance, such is the popularity of the event and the demand for affordable dental care. Based on last year’s turnout, Justin Gibbs from the Missouri Dental Association is expecting around 2,000 people to be treated at the clinic.

This will be the fourth Mission of Mercy clinic in Missouri. Previous clinics have been held in St Louis and Springfield and this will be the first time the event has been held in Columbia.

Paul Roberts, foundation and outreach manager at the MDA, said there is a demand for free dental treatment all over the state. This is why the location of the clinic changes every year.

Anyone wishing to undergo free treatment at the clinic this weekend is advised to arrive early. People travel long distances and are willing to queue for hours to secure an appointment. Queues are expected to form from Thursday afternoon.
