Minnesota priest dies in dentist chair

A Minnesota priest has died after passing out in a dentist’s chair.

Fifty-year-old Fr James Shimsky, Rochester, was rushed to St. Mary’s Hospital after he passed out but died on Thursday 4 March 2010.

Bishop-Elect Joseph Bambera called Fr Shimsky’s unexpected death ‘a great loss’ for everyone who knew him and the Diocese of Scranton.

He also said that Fr Shimsky’s had touched many people’s lives.

Fr Shimsky was charged in January for buying cocaine on a Philadelphia street. He had been due for an appointment with the district attorney on the morning of his death.
