Mid Ulster planning officers consider application for new shopping centre dental practice

Sample News Big

Planning officers at Mid Ulster District Council are currently considering an application to open a new dental practice in Magherafelt.

If the proposals are given the green light, the surgery will be located at Meadowlane Shopping Centre.

Mr Sean Corry has applied to the council to change the use of a retail unit at the centre into a dental clinic. The application was put forward by McGurk Architects Ltd. The plan is to change the use of the retail premises and to alter the layout and external elevation of the unit. The site is currently vacant.

The application was submitted at the beginning of August and will be able to view until the 31st August.

If the plans are approved, shoppers could combine browsing the aisles with having a dental check-up and local businesses could also benefit from increased footfall.

There is a shortage of dentists and a new practice could help to ease pressure on existing services and enable more people to see a dentist without joining a waiting list or travelling far from home.

A decision on the application is expected in the coming weeks. Further information about the practice, including opening hours, services and prices, will be available in due course if the project gets the green light.
