Mansfield Dentist To Offer Free Checks As Part Of Mouth Cancer Awareness Campaign

Sample News Big

A Mansfield dental practice is offering free head and neck checks in November as part of a national effort to raise awareness of mouth cancer, a disease, which affects more than 6,000 people in the UK every year.

Jordan Dental Practice will be offering free mouth cancer screening in November in a bid to raise awareness of the disease and encourage people to be vigilant and watch out for symptoms, which include red and white patches in the mouth, lumps and swelling and slow-healing mouth ulcers.

Simon Khabra, a dentist at the practice, is offering screening sessions to look out for symptoms and chat to patients in Mansfield about mouth cancer. In the case that the team picks up potential warning signs, patients will be referred for secondary treatment. Risk factors for the disease, which has become increasingly common in the UK in the last decade, include drinking alcohol frequently, smoking and exposure to HPV (human papilloma virus) infection.

The practice will be running the sessions on the 17th November and anyone who is interested in signing up or finding out more is encouraged to contact reception directly.
