A dental practice in Manchester has sealed new partnership deals with local colleges to provide on the job training for apprentice dental nurses.

Whitworth Dental Care, which is located on Market Street, has forged new partnerships with Bury College, Oldham College and Training 2000, which is based on Blackburn, to provide training opportunities for student nurses.

Dentist, Navid Tahir, has also completed training to accept newly qualified dentists at the practice as part of their foundation training. The dentists, who will have recently left university, will spend one year undertaking clinical training at the practice under the supervision and guidance of Dr Tahir. The practice is also considering taking on trainee dental therapists.

Councillor David Barnes, Mayor of Whitworth and local MP, Jake Berry, are proud of the practice’s development and pleased to hear about the partnerships with local universities and colleges.

Councillor Barnes said that it had been “a pleasure to watch the practice flourish and develop since 2011” and added that the apprenticeship scheme was an exciting boost for students in the local area.
