A man has been sentenced following a burglary at a dental practice in South Ockendon.

James Kevin Alexander was sentenced to six months in jail after appearing at Southend Magistrate Court.

The burglary took place in May. Police were called to the South Essex dental practice on May 15th after receiving reports suggesting the security alarm had been deactivated. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered that the windows had been smashed. Mr Alexander was identified as a suspect using CCTV images. He was arrested on May 30th and later released pending further enquiries.

When questioned about the incident, Mr Alexander told police officers that he was in hospital at the time of the burglary, but his story didn’t check out.

Nothing was taken from the dental practice but superintendent Timothy Tubbs said, “Whether items are taken or not, burglary has a detrimental effect on the public.”
