A man has appeared in court after punching another man so hard that he requires £6,000 worth of dental treatment.

Lee Christopher, a 25 year old man from Bury St Edmunds, pleaded guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on September 21st. The court heart that Mr Christopher had punched another man outside LP nightclub in Bury in February. According to the prosecution, the victim was on a night out with friends when he came across a female acting aggressively towards some people he was with.

Rosamund Cappleman, prosecuting, said that the victim was on his way home when the female pushed him and Mr Christopher punched him; the victim lost teeth and has already amassed dental bills of £4000, with further work required, which will take the total cost of treatment to around £6,000. Mrs Cappleman said that the victim has had to get a credit card to cover the cost of treatment.

Clare Lockwood, defence, said that Mr Christopher had admitted that he had too much to drink on the night of the assault and said that he regretted it; she added that Christopher was “on edge” because he had recently split up with his girlfriend and he punched the victim because he had been told by friends that he was “goading” him.

Mr Christopher was released on unconditional bail and has been ordered to return to court for sentencing on the 18th October.
