A Malvern dentist has completed a gruelling 900 mile cycle ride in aid of charity.

Dentist David Watson, from Beacon Dental Care, completed the route from John O’Groats to Land’s End as part of a charity ride organised by Denplan. Mr Watson was part of a team of 20 cyclists that took up the 900 mile challenge.

The team completed the cycle in ten days, leaving from John O’Groats in the far North of Scotland on the 10th May and reaching the southern most point of England, Land’s End on the 20th May.

Mr Watson said that the challenge was tough and he is still wondering quite how he managed to complete it. The team morale was great and everyone encouraged each other. The Malvern dentist said that he experienced severe aches and pains and this caused him to struggle at times, but he used visualisation techniques and all the pain was worthwhile when the team caught sight of the finishing post.

The team has already exceeded the fundraising target of £30,000 and donations are still pouring in. The money raised will be donated to Macmillan, which supports individuals and families affected by cancer.
