Maldon Dental Patients Told To Wait For Treatment As Practice Runs Out Of NHS Funds

Sample News Big

Dental patients at a practice in Maldon have been told that they will have to wait for treatment, as the practice has run out of NHS funds for this financial year.

Patients from the Quest Dental Care surgery, which is located on the High Street, have been informed that funding for this year has run out, which means that they will have to wait until new funds become available in the new financial year if they want NHS dental treatment.

Patients who are contacting the practice for appointments are now being informed that they will have to wait until April if they would like to proceed with treatment. The alternative option, for those seeking faster treatment, is to pay for private dental treatment.

Michele Sale is just one of the many patients affected by the announcement. She was shocked to find out about the situation when she rang the practice last week to book an appointment for her four year old son, Joshua. Ms Sale was told that her son could see a dentist, but it would cost £18.50. Usually, NHS dental care is free for all patients under the age of 18 years old.

The situation is likely to cause a backlog, with patients booking now for April.
