Lynn dental nurse receives prestigious awards

Xyanthe Lambert, a 41 year old dental nurse from Lynn, has been awarded the prestigious Dental Nurse of the Year award.

The national award is presented by the Dental Nurse Network in recognition of nurses who support their practices and fellow colleagues and make a difference to patient care. Xyanthe was chosen ahead of all the other nominees as a result of her tireless campaigning against increases in registration fees.

Xyanthe campaigned against the £120 General Dental Council registration fee because she believes that it is too high for dental nurses, as their salaries are relatively low. She also said that the registration fee was putting people off going into the profession, which could contribute to a shortage of dental nurses in the future.

Xyanthe felt very strongly about the registration fee and set up a Facebook group to encourage people to join her campaign; she also wrote several articles for magazines and websites and sent a petition to the government.

Xyanthe Lambert works at Smiles Better Dental Care on Norfolk Road; her practice manager, Gabrielle Manning said that everyone was very proud of Xyanthe’s achievements.
