Luton Dental Tutor Celebrating After New Year Honour

A dental tutor from Barnfield, near Luton, is celebrating after being named on the Queen’s New Year Honours List.

Angie McBain, a tutor at Barnfield College was awarded an MBE in recognition of her services to dental nursing. Angie works as a senior dental nurse tutor at the New Bedford Road Campus.

Angie said she was utterly shocked to receive the news, which she has been keeping secret since November. She said she was convinced somebody had made a mistake and was over the moon with the award.

Angie started working at Barnfield College in 2000 and was president and chairman of council at the British Association of Dental Nurses. She now heads up projects at the Dental Academy at Barnfield College.

Angie thanked all her colleagues at Barnfield and said they had played a major role in her success. She also said that they had been extremely supportive in allowing her to take on the role of president of the BADN.
