Halesowen MP, James Morris, visited Halesowen Dental last month to support the team’s Macmillan coffee morning fundraiser.

The team at the practice hosted the coffee morning and cake sale on Thursday 29th September as part of a national fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support.

During his visit to the practice, Mr Morris was treated to a tour of the surgery, as well as a hot drink and a slice of cake. There was also an opportunity to speak to staff and find out more about the day-to-day running of the practice, the range of treatments available to patients and the latest innovations in dentistry.

Macmillan’s coffee mornings are organised across the country and they raise millions of pounds for the charity, which supports thousands of people affected by cancer around the UK. The event is the biggest fundraiser in the calendar and it’s also an amazing opportunity to raise awareness of cancer symptoms and signs. Macmillan also uses coffee mornings and catch-ups to tell people about the work they do to support patients with cancer and their families.

Speaking about the event, Mr Morris said that he was “delighted” to be able to attend coffee mornings in person again after Covid and thanked all the team at Halesowen Dental for their “kind invitation.” Macmillan makes a huge difference to people with cancer and their loved ones and the coffee mornings are a brilliant fundraiser that brings communities together. In 2021, they raised more than £11 million for the charity and the organisers were hoping for even more in 2022.

The team raised around £550 for Macmillan, a charity that has special meaning for practice manager, Amy Lewis, who lost her dad to cancer earlier in 2022.
