A charity gala organised by Liverpool Dental Spa has raised thousands of pounds for poor children inAfrica.

The fundraiser, which was held at the city’s Hilton hotel, raised £20,000 for Dental Mavericks, a charity that provides care for children living in extremely poor conditions in Africa. The money will be used to care for children suffering from septicaemia.

Guests at the gala were treated to performances by Liverpudlian artists, Atomic Kitten and the X Factor’s Chris Maloney. Julie Perry, one of the organisers, said that the event was a great success, raising a large sum of money for a good cause.

Liz Taylor, business manager at Liverpool Dental Spa, said that the charity auctions raised £17,000 and each of the team members planning to visit Morocco are also raising £1,000 each, which will cover the cost of flights and visas.

The dentists will be treating children between the ages of 2 and 18 years old who are affected by blood-borne diseases and dental conditions; unfortunately, many of the children live in remote villages and it can take several days to reach a hospital to get the treatment they need.

Liverpool Dental Spa is still raising money for the cause and any further donations will be gratefully received.
