A dental technician from Leeds has been tipped to hit the big time in the boxing world after impressing in his first 19 fights.

Josh Warrington, 24, works as a dental technician by day, but on the side, he’s rising up the ranks in the boxing world and is undefeated after 19 fights. Warrington’s most recent victory came in October, when he beat Davide Dieli at the First Direct Arena in front of a crowd of 6,000 people. After winning the fight in the 4th round, Warrington was crowned European Featherweight champion.

Speaking about the fight in his home town in Leeds, Warrington said it was an incredible experience to come out and hear 6,000 people cheering. The noise levels were amazing and it sounded more like 20,000 people were shouting and supporting. Dieli was a good match for Warrington, but the Italian couldn’t deal with the Yorkshire man’s speed and agility.

Warrington has a close-knit team around him, which includes his father and his wife, Natasha, and industry experts believe that the best is yet to come for the 24 year old. While he’s captured the imagination of boxing fans in Yorkshire and beyond, Warrington still leads a very normal life and he works as a dental technician at Adel’s Beever Laboratory. He says the two activities are so different and this is why it works for him. Training is 100 miles per hour, full-throttle and maximum physical commitment, while work involves skill, precision and calm. When people ask him about his work-training balance, he describes himself as the “boxing tooth fairy.”
