A dental practice manager from Lancashire is all smiles after winning a prestigious award for the second year running.

Sophie Etherington, from mydentist in Padiham Road, Burnley, scooped the Practice Manager of the Year Award at the Dental Awards 2021 a year after winning the same prize.

The 29-year-old, who accepted her award at the virtual ceremony, said that she was totally shocked when her name was read out. Last year was a surprise and to win the award again was a huge honour for Sophie. Talking about her achievements, Sophie said that she had been blown away by the awards and was hugely grateful for the recognition she receives for doing a job she absolutely loves.

Award winners are decided by an expert panel. The Practice Manager of the Year prize is one of the most respected awards and it is handed out to individuals who have a real impact on the team, the patients and the local community.

Lisa Bainham, president of the Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM), said that the Dental Awards are an excellent way to celebrate and recognise personal and team achievements and accomplishments and to motivate and encourage dental professionals to continue striving to be the best.

Sophie added that her award is especially precious after what has been a very challenging time for the profession. The pandemic has affected dental teams and patients and everyone has pulled together to keep patients safe and provide the best service possible under tough restrictions.
