LA to provide dental care for Medicaiders
Los Angeles County has taken steps to provide dental cover for members of Medi-Cal.
Last year state lawmakers slashed the adult Medi-Cal dental coverage in an attempt to reduces costs as part of its recession budget but now it is try to remedy the toothy issue.
Two new plans have now been unveiled which could improve the oral health of many people in the county.
LA Care Health Plan has already begun offering dental benefits to Medi-Cal and Medicare members as well as those from smaller dental plans.
It has also allocated $700,000 to assist 10 community clinics which will benefit around 200,000 adult Medi-Callers.
The second plan, Health Net last week also announced that it would be offering coverage to adult Medi-Cal members through its commercial dental scheme, benefitting about 70,000 local adults.
