Representatives from a Swedish dental firm have confirmed that jobs will not be affected by relocation plans. TePe, which is currently based in Wedmore, will relocate to new premises in Wells.

The family-run company has been based in Wedmore for the last fifteen years and there had been fears that local jobs would be lost when plans to move were announced. However, executives have looked for a suitable location within the county to protect jobs. The move to Wells will enable the twenty workers to keep their jobs.

TePe is moving as a result of expansion. The current location in Borough Mews, Cheddar Road, is now too small. The new premises at Cathedral Park is much larger and will enable further growth. The new development is part of a multi-million pound warehouse and offers double the square footage of the Wedmore facility.

Operations manager, Chris Cook, explained that protecting jobs was a priority for the team when considering other locations. There were no suitable spaces within a 10-mile radius, but the Cathedral Park base ticks all the boxes. The entire workforce of 20 will be moving and the firm is also planning to create new jobs in the future.

TePe, which manufactures dental products, such as interdental brushes, has grown rapidly in the last few years according to Mr Cook, and the future looks very promising.
