Issa brothers set their sights on new dental clinic in Blackburn

Blackburn-based brothers, Zuber and Mohsin Issa, have submitted a proposal to create a brand new dental practice in the town.

The Issa brothers have an established business empire, which comprises petrol stations, supermarkets and other retail companies. The brothers have now set their sights on a new dental clinic in Blackburn.

The plans relate to a development opportunity on the site previously occupied by St Peter’s church on the corner of Wainwright Way and Freckleton Street. The application appears to be a private venture for the brothers rather than a commercial move under their primary business, the EG Group.

If the plans get the green light, the practice will boast ten treatment rooms across two floors. There will also be space for research and development facilities and an office. The accompanying statement suggests that the site, which is in the south west of the town, has been chosen because it is a “key gateway site for urban hub development.”

Councillor Damian Talbot, head of public health at Blackburn with Darwen Council, described the plan as a “step in the right direction” at a time when there is a shortage of NHS dental places. He added that he hoped that any new practice that opened would provide NHS dental services.
