Legal firm Irwin Mitchell is doing its bit for Mouth Cancer Action Month by supporting the Bite Back at Cancer campaign, which is run by the Mouth Cancer Foundation in conjunction with the British Dental Health Foundation.

To show their support, representatives from the legal firm took part in the Hyde Park 10k walk for the Mouth Cancer Foundation in September. More than 500 people took part in the walk, which marked the 10th anniversary of the event.

Throughout the coming weeks, the team at Irwin Mitchell will be doing its best to support events and raise awareness of mouth cancer as Mouth Cancer Action Month takes place across the country.

Christine Gardiner from the dental negligence team said that it was an honour to support the Bite Back at Cancer campaign and the 10k walk in Hyde Park. The Mouth Cancer Foundation works tirelessly to support people affected by mouth cancer, as well as their families and to raise awareness of the causes, risk factors and warning signs of oral cancer.

The main message of this year’s campaign is to get checked out and clinics all over the country are offering free screening during November. The test simply involves looking out for potential warning signs and using a light source to identify abnormal tissue, which may be indicative of oral cancer. The test is quick and painless and a simple trip to the dentist could make the difference between life and death.
