Ipswich dental surgery hopes to increase capacity

The owners of a dental surgery in Ipswich are hoping to increase capacity amid surging demand for local dental services.

Foxhall Dental Practice currently has around 14,000 patients, but there is already a waiting list of more than 1,000 people and the demand is increasing daily. The owners are hoping to add a single-storey extension and renovate an outbuilding to expand the practice.

Practice owner, Hiten Pabari, has submitted plans to extend the existing premises in Foxhall Road to the council. The proposals outline plans to add a single-storey link extension, modify a single storey outbuilding and change the use of another outbuilding to provide additional treatment rooms.

Mr Pabari explained that relocation is not a viable option due to cost and suggested that extending the current premises would provide a better option for patients.

The practice has an established client base, and the team wants to ensure that the surgery remains easily accessible. NHS contract terms means that the practice is limited in terms of the number of patients it can treat but increasing the size of the clinic would enable teams to see more patients by improving efficiency.

Mr Pabari said that it was increasingly difficult to hit NHS targets and improving the practice would make life easier for the team while providing better facilities and a more efficient service for patients.
