Interplast Lends a Hand

Interplast has developed a new ‘Visiting Educator Programme’ which sends medical volunteers to developing countries to give hands-on training.
Interplast, changing lives for over 40 years, is the first organisation to provide all kinds of medical treatment and solutions to poorer countries by sending devoted medical volunteers to give direct training and donated equipment.
The programme is designed to help local medical clinics and doctors who deal with the poor, also providing donated orthodontic equipment and charging the cheapest price possible with comprehensive care. The hands-on training will improve the quality of treatment received in developing countries as well as the experience of medical personnel without the expense of the developing country’s much needed funds.
As all help is voluntary developing countries have no need to worry about paying back loans, purchasing expensive materials or training courses which would often be the case with companies and agencies.
Two volunteers were recently sent out to Ecuador to work with an Interplast partner orthodontist and assist with treatment. Due to close correspondent with Interplast dentists the scheme can provide life changing treatments to people who wouldn’t necessarily be able to afford it.
Since partnering with Interplast Dr. Elsie Tafur Chang has evaluated around 150 patients and started treating more than 109 of them with the help of new equipment, supplies and training.
