Dentists in India have offered advice for patients to help them recover form the party season and enjoy good oral health in the New Year.

According to experts, the number of patients visiting their dentists with tooth pain and oral health problems increases in the New Year after weeks of indulging in sugary treats and rich foods.

Dr Shantanu, a cosmetic dentist, said that it is important to be aware of the potential damage you could be doing to your teeth and gums by going over the top during the festive season. Keeping an eye on your oral health and indulging in moderation can help to keep your teeth and gums healthy and prevent problems.

Dr Karishma Jardi, another cosmetic dentist, advises her patients to drink plenty of water, especially after eating sweet foods. Attending a check-up and having a cleaning treatment can also be very beneficial in the run-up to the festive season.

Experts also say that smoking and drinking both have negative implications for oral health and encourage people to try and give up smoking as a New Year’s resolution and keep an eye on the amount they drink.

The party season is great fun but it can be murder for the mouth and experts are eager for people who have over-indulged over the last few weeks to get back on track and take good care of their teeth. Going to the dentist on a regular basis, avoiding snacking on sugary foods and sticking to a good daily oral hygiene routine should help to keep problems at bay.
