Illegal Dental Practice Shut Down In Vancouver

Investigators from the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia teamed up with police to close down an illegal dental practice in Vancouver.

College investigators were joined by police officers on a visit to a home in Adanac Street in the east of Vancouver on Thursday. A male was at home at the time but refused to talk to reporters on Thursday evening.

Officers removed dental instruments from the house shortly before midday.

Anita Wilks, spokeswoman for the college, said that she could not pass comment, but stressed that it was not related to the case of Tung Sheng, sentenced to spend three months in prison on Tuesday, despite the fact that he is missing; police believe he is in the Metro Vancouver area hiding out.

Jerome Marburg, CEO of the college, confirmed that the college is investigating rogue dentists and attempting to close down illegal operations to protect members of the public, but he would not disclose information about the number of investigations underway.

Mr Marburg said that there had been several cases involving illegal dentists in recent years and stressed that the college was working with police to try and shut down rogue practices.
