Hundreds queue to get a place at Norfolk dental practice

Sample News Big

Hundreds of people queued in the early hours of the morning to get a place at a dental practice in Norfolk recently.

More than 300 people waited patiently from 4am onwards after the team at Smile Dental Care in Kings Lynn confirmed that it would be opening up new patient places. Crowds gathered outside the clinic on May 2nd after the practice posted on social media.

One resident, Ellie, shared a photo of the huge queue on social media, suggesting that it demonstrated the current situation in the UK. Usually people would be lining up for a concert or a meet and greet with a celebrity, she said, but this image was people desperately trying to find a dentist. She was forced to leave the queue long before she reached the front to collect her son and suggested that hundreds would miss out.

The British Dental Association likened the scene to something you would have expected to see at a bakery in the Soviet Bloc and said that the access crisis is deepening.
Smile Dental Care was offering around one hundred new patient places when the social media post was shared. It is estimated that over 300 people turned up to the practice.
