Hull Dentist Endures Freezing Cold to Compete in Motorcross Event

A dentist from Hull spent a night sleeping his car in freezing temperatures to compete in a motocross event.

Nick Allday, owner of Manor Dental Health on Willerby Road in west Hull, had trained for the event, which took place in the north of France for several months and was determined to compete, despite poor weather conditions setting in and making his journey extremely difficult.

More than 1,000 motocross riders participated in Le Touquet Enduropale, a gruelling endurance challenge, which takes place on the beach. The winning rider is the one who completes the most 15.5 kilometre circuits in a 3 hour period.

Nick finished in 773rd place and is determined to take part in the event again next year. He said that he was staying in Calais when poor weather conditions set in, but he was so eager to take part that he slept in the car under some carpet and a sleeping bag.

Nick added that he is looking forward to taking part next year and is aiming for a top 500 finish and is planning to try and raise money for charity at next year’s event.

Nick has been a keen biker for more than 20 years and started doing motocross around three years ago.
