Horse Dentist Devastated After Thieves Steal Specialist Equipment

An equine dentist has been left devastated after thieves broke into his car and stole thousands of pounds worth of specialist equipment.

Rob Brissenden’s Vaunhall Astra was parked at Hemsted Forest, near Bennenden, when it was broken into by opportunistic thieves; he had only taken his dog for a walk and was gone for half an hour. When he came back to the car, he found the windows smashed and the tools had been taken.

Rob has called a number of local scrap yards to enquire about the tools and ask employees to keep an eye out for them; to anyone else they are worthless, but to Rob they are extremely valuable. In scrap, they are worth around £5, but they cost thousands of pounds to buy because they are specialist pieces of equipment, which he requires to carry out his day to day job.

Rob has contacted his insurance company, but due to the timing of the incident, it will take some time for the claim to be processed; in the meantime, Rob has had numerous offers from colleagues to borrow tools, but he has already lost two full days of work and had to pay for damage caused to the car.

A spokesman from Kent Police said that these are not the usual tools stolen by thieves and urged anyone who comes across them to contact police. Anyone who has any information about the theft or the missing tools is advised to contact PC Steven Barker on 101.

The theft took place between 1.30pm and 2pm on Sunday 15th December.
