A Highlands dental practice will close permanently in February, it has been confirmed.

NHS Highland has received notice from the owner of Skye and Lochalsh Dental Practice. The practice will close in February 2023. Until the closure, registered patients will be able to access emergency dental services.

Director of dentistry at NHS Highland, John Lyon, said that the owner of the practice had contacted the trust to confirm the impending closure. He added that it had been a very difficult decision for the owner to take and stressed that NHS Highland is working with the practice management team to offer support and discuss alternative arrangements for patients affected by the news.

The practice team will be in touch with registered patients in the near future and more information about available dental services and NHS places will be provided in due course. Patients are urged not to panic.

Routine appointments will no longer be available at the practice, but patients can access urgent care. Anyone who needs emergency treatment between now and February should contact the practice as normal.

NHS Highland is working with local providers and the practice owner to try to minimise disruption and find dental places for those impacted by the closure of the clinic.
