Harefield’s only NHS dental surgery set to close
Representatives from NHS Hillingdon have confirmed that the dental surgery in Harefield will close.
The dental practice, which is located on Northwood Road, is currently the only NHS dental surgery in the village. The property is owned by Mr Melhuish but he is due to retire and NHS Hillingdon says that this is the reason behind the closure of the surgery. The surgery will not be offered to other NHS dentists.
The NHS confirmed that other dentists had contacted them about the possibility of opening new practices in the area; however, they confirmed that applications would only be approved if suitable premises could be found and planning permission was given the green light.
Mr Melhuish’s patients have been advised to contact the local Primary Care Trust’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service or visit the NHS website.
The Primary Care Trust is set to meet to discuss the issue of dental services in the Harefield area at the end of March.
