Green Light For New Sainsbury’s Store Dental Practice

Plans to open a new dental practice in the Sainsbury’s store in Ely have been given the green light.

Plans to create a new practice in the Lisle Lane store were submitted in June and have since been approved by planning officers at East Cambridgeshire District Council. An application was originally sent in 2011 before the store opened and this was refused, but the revised application, which included a planned site, which was 40% smaller than the original proposal, has been accepted.

The practice will have one dental chair and will employ one dentist and a dental nurse. The clinic will open between 10am and 6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and appointments will also be available at the weekends, with opening hours of 9am until 6pm on Saturday and 11am until 4pm on Sunday.

Sainsbury’s already has three stores with on-site dental clinics and the Ely store will be the seventh supermarket in the country to offer dental services.

Representatives for the store say that the addition of a dental clinic will provide shoppers with an additional service and the flexible opening hours will enable improved access to dental services in Ely.
