Free Dental Treatment for Edmonton’s Homeless

Sample News Big

Homeless people in Edmonton were offered a range of free services on Sunday, including dental treatment.

Homeless Connect, an event that provides thousands of dollars worth of medical, dental and other services, from haircuts to catering, took place last weekend at the Shaw Conference Centre. The event is run by Homeward Trust Edmonton.

The aim of the event is to provide homeless people with everything they need under one roof and people can receive free medical and dental checks, enjoy a hot meal and talk to advisers about addictions, housing and employment.

Susan McGee, the organiser of the event, said that the people who are helped by Homeless Connect are desperate for a helping hand, as they cannot afford to pay for the services on offer at the event.

Homeless Connect is part of a ten-year plan to put a stop to homelessness in Edmonton and organisers of the event have seen the amazing effects on homeless people. Over the last two years, Homeward Trust Edmonton has helped more than 1,500 people get off the streets and more than 1,500 people attended Sunday’s event.

Homeless Connect is held twice a year.
