Dr Amlesh Kumar, President of Lions Club of Patilputra, has announced that free dental check-ups will be available for up to 10,000 children in the city over the course of the next year.

Dr Kumar has recently been appointed President of the Lions Club and is also secretary of the Indian Dental Association. Speaking at the installation, Kumar outlined plans for free dental check-ups and said that the main theme of the coming year would be oral hygiene. School children in the area will be entitled to free check-ups and dental experts are also aiming to target poorer children living in the slums. At the event, Dr Kumar distributed free toothbrushes and toothpaste and handed out schoolbags.

Respected surgeon, Dr Birenda Kishore, from Muzzaffarpur officiated at the installation, administering the oath to Dr Kumar and confirming his position as President.

Dr Kumar has vowed to make positive changes in the area. The free dental check-ups will help to detect existing and developing conditions and parents can then be advised about treatments. Dentists will also take time to talk to children and their parents about oral hygiene and ways to reduce the risk of oral health problems. A team of dental surgeons will be responsible for providing the free oral health checks.
