Free clinics will remain in operation, despite healthcare reform

The organisers of free dental and healthcare clinics insist their services will remain in operation, despite the predicted changes in the structure of health and dental care following the passing of President Obama’s healthcare reform bill.

Free clinics are extremely popular right across America and are usually oversubscribed, with people queuing for hours to get the care they need. The clinics offer an opportunity which otherwise would not be available to those without insurance policies.

Although the healthcare reform bill promises to shake-up the current system, organisers of free clinics have suggested that the new measures will make very little difference to the number of patients attending free clinics initially; most of the plans will not materialise for at least three years and during this time, thousands of people will rely on the care provided by special free clinics.

In a perfect world, the clinics would close as this would indicate that every citizen in America had access to the dental and health care services they needed; however, this is unlikely to become a reality anytime soon and organisers are expecting to run their clinics for a long time to come.
