Former Clitheroe pharmacy could become a new dental surgery

A former pharmacy in Clitheroe could be given a new lease of life if plans to open a dental practice are approved by the council.

Dr Ralph Pickup has submitted an application to turn premises on King Street into a new dental surgery. The unit was previously occupied by Lloyds Pharmacy but is currently vacant.

If the plans get the green light, Dr Pickup hopes to create a modern, functional practice with dental treatment rooms, as well as physio rooms and a spacious waiting area. The existing premises would be extended, with the surgery occupying three floors. Patients would have access to hygiene services in addition to an extensive range of general and restorative dental treatments. There would be a lift to ensure accessibility and the existing lean-to roof would be replaced.

The planning proposal suggests that the project would be sympathetic to the conservation of the building. The owner is also keen to promote sustainability. The new practice will have solar panels on the roof to produce energy and lower carbon emissions.

Officers at Ribble Valley Council will now review the planning application. Residents can leave comments until May 18th. If the council approves the plans, the practice will open from 9am until 8pm on weekdays and from 9am until 5pm on Saturdays.
